Each season four KinderKonzerts are presented to over 7,000 local school children. The students are taken to the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts to hear a concert in the Foellinger Great Hall. Prior to KinderKonzerts, the Symphony Guild and the School of Music Office of Community Engagement prepare classroom-teaching materials (workbooks and CD's) to familiarize the children with musical instruments, concert etiquette, and the musical selections they will hear. These materials have won national recognition from the American Symphony Orchestra League. The Champaign-Urbana Symphony is the only organization in the area that provides this type of cultural enrichment for local school children.

String, wind, percussion and brass ensembles from the Champaign-Urbana Symphony are available to schools within a 50-mile radius for in-school concerts, lectures, and interaction with the children so that they may learn how music affects our lives. The Champaign-Urbana Symphony is the only organization in the area that provides this type of cultural enrichment for local school children.

The Champaign-Urbana Symphony Guild supports the development of children's musical interest by providing scholarships to area children for Illinois Summer Youth Music Camps.
